Welcome to Mad River Livestock! Let us introduce
ourselves. We are Richard & Judy Deckling along with our children, Meaghan &
Chase. We have had a 40 + year involvement in the livestock industry. These
experiences have been a very valuable learning tool for us and have helped us to
lay a firm foundation for our inevitable destiny as Boer goat breeders. We live
in Central Ohio and are heavily committed to the breeding and showing of this
incredible animal. |
At Mad River Livestock, our goal and obsession is to maintain superior doe
families and combine them with superior bucks to produce animals that are a
benefit to both the breed and the Boer goat industry as a whole.
Big numbers are not the key to maintaining a great herd. Quality over quantity
is and always will be the most important thing to us. I believe in “the power of
the doe” and keep and breed doe families that will help us maintain this belief.
Add that to superior bred bucks and what you get is staying power coupled with a
bright future in the industry. Emphasis on structural correctness, breed type
and mothering ability will lead the Boer goat as a breed to an incredible
future. We at Mad River Livestock pay close attention to this philosophy. There
are just too many breeders out there with a “win at any cost” attitude or a “me
& only me” ideology and they compromise their integrity and the integrity of
Boer breeders as a whole on a short term high. That attitude is not an option
for us as we believe in the “reap what you sow” precept and everything we do
from livestock to raising children to just hanging out with friends is based on
that belief and we purpose to surround ourselves with people who live their
lives in that way too. That’s why any link or “endorsement” from us on this
website are things or breeders that we stand by personally and you can be sure
it/they are things you can trust.
